Congress extended the USA Patriot Act today. You remember, that bill that was resoundingly approved following 9/11 claiming to 'protect Americans'. One of the most intentionally confusing pieces of legislation ever written. Later inspection would reveal that the act, marketable title intact, compromised the civil liberties that form the foundation of American citizen rights. So what's the good news...?
The good news is that the act was only extended for 3 months while senators argue over modifications that would win back a few more civil liberties for the American citizen.
