I’ll be the first person to admit that Kerry is not the ideal candidate to the running against Bush. Kerry is however the prime available option when it comes to stopping the Bush Administration from running this country into the toilet. And although I will have plenty to say about what an asshole Kerry is following his accent to power I certainly cannot allow the absolute close-mindedness of the Bush Administration to continue to pollute this country’s image around the world, and here is a little news… IT DOES NOT MAKE US SAFER!!!
As for the debate I thought that the clear winner was Kerry, however this was defiantly no knock out punch. The President looked like a buffoon most of the time he was able to speak, and I really liked the cutaways we were not supposed to see of the President making confused and sometimes arrogant looking smirks and eye rolls. The clinical nature of these debates really fails to do anything for anyone, but the list of rules is sure fun to read --- type of note paper that is allowed, the gestures that are allows the made, what temperature the room must be at, BUZZERZ!!! --- you really have to laugh. I think the major slip on Bush’s part was justifying the Iraq war with the words “we were attacked.” The implication of course in the context of what was being discussed is that Saddam and Osama were in cahoots when it came to the 9/11 attacks. Kerry spotted and responded to this effectively by pointing out to the President that the 9/11 commission found no connection between Saddam and Osama and that SADDAM HUSSEIN did not attack America.
There were a number of overstatements and “mis”-statements on both side, and although Kerry came out on top, I do not think this, or any of the debates, will have a significant impact on polls because the “undecided voter” is undecided because they don’t give a shit about the political process (which they might be better for) and sadly they will decide this election… them… or the Supreme Court… and I cannot decide which is worse. I hate EVERYTHING now~!
I agree with you there...Kerry definitely came out on top. For one thing, Bush really only had about 5 or 6 ideas that he said OVER AND OVER again (one of my favorites: "I know how these people work." haha Obviously you don't if everyone hates America!).
I don't know if I'd totally consider myself a "swing voter," but I am going into the whole election process with an open mind. After viewing the first debate, I am leaning more towards Kerry. Maybe he doesn't have enough "balls" (so Bush repeatly says) but I think he made some pretty bold statements and backed up his opinions.
I can't wait to see next week's debate!
