It’s Saturday morning, and I have WWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much shit in my room. Every weekend, or at least every-other weekend, I straighten this room, and make a somewhat halfhearted pledge to keep it that way. Of course it is always a complete disaster area by Tuesday at the latest. Coming back to my initial statement, I don’t feel the issue is my habits (since I genuinely like cleanliness and order), but the fact that I am being out gunned by the staggering amount of SHIT that piles up in my room over the course of the year.
Just last year I carried 13 filled trash bags out of my room. I had decided to do some cleaning, and was in the mood to discard anything I didn’t think I would need. The result was 13 jumbo trash bags, overflowing with years of useless junk. Making a concerted effort to actively discard things that are past their time has done little to solve the problem.
My mom has always held on to things saying, “you never know when you might need it”… and although I think she is quite MAD in this regard, I can’t help but wonder whether I inherited some of those genes. Order and cleanliness have always been my father bag, when it comes to messy rooms, or things lying about the house just a little too long, its my father delving out the “I have to look at this room every day”-s and the “You’re bag has been sitting there for over a WEEK!!”-s. He’s lightened up significantly since I decided to live at home for the remainder of college. Maybe my “you don’t have to look at my room all week because my door is always shut” argument began to hold water.
The two halves of my parents are in constant battle, my mom’s knack for creating disorder, and my dad’s obsessive compulsive demand for cleanliness. But what does this all boil down to?... I’m sorry I completely strayed from the point… I’m going to overhaul my room this morning/afternoon. Get things in order and try to get rid of the aforementioned SHIT piling up. Here are a few preliminary photos of the mess. Do stop back for some post cleaning shots…
What Happend to 96.5 FM?
Maybe some of my readers in the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area will know what I’m referring to when I say – WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO 96.5 FM “THE POINT”???
I’ve never listened to a station with so much potential go so wrong. When it originally came on the air (maybe 2-3 years ago)… it was known as the 80’s station. I remember enjoying the nonstop 80’s blocks, many of which were by request. It then became apparent that their ratings weren’t climbing fast enough spinning nothing but 80’s. The Point’s format expanded to “The Best of the 80’s, 90’s & More”… I was willing to accept this change, as they were still predominantly 80’s with a little early 90’s and late 70’s mixed in. They were also the radio station associated with the Retro 80’s nights at both the Coastline in Cherry Hill, and Café Society in Marlton. It was also during this time that they picked up a Philly standard The Barsky Morning Show – previously broadcasted on 93.3FM WMMR. The Barsky Morning Show is a superior talk radio show that enjoyed every morning on my way to work, until recently. It was bad enough when The Point went pretty POP… playing Michelle Branch, Matchbox 20, and Avril Lavigne, but then last Tuesday it ALL went to hell.
Imagine my surprise when I tuned in for The Barsky Show last Tuesday morning, and instead of a talk show, I hear Eminem’s latest attempt to lower America’s musical standards. Knowing that very little of what gets played on the radio has to do with DJ musical tastes or the requests of listeners with enough fortitude to call the station, I accept that the playing of Eminem during The Barsky Show was a managerial/marketing decision. Just after my ears stopped bleeding, the next track came on…. Another piece of musical garbage that some might call Rap and/or R&B. It’s becoming increasingly apparent that The Point has decided to change formats… but not only that, they removed The Barsky Show from their line-up. Apparently White Boy Rap has a more appeal? (prolly to those fuckers in the tricked out Honda Civics who think they’re Vin Diesel or worse Paul Walker).
The Barsky Show is no longer on the air, and what started out as 96.5FM The Point “Philly’s 80’s Station” has become 96.5FM The Wild “Bangin’ Hip Hop and R&B”… ugh…
Am I the only one that noticed this shit?… Am I the only one that cares? Go Here – Who the fuck is Rocco?… is he the ass wipe DJ that was asking some Soccer-Mom if she was a MILF the other night, in the most cheesy and canned radio voice imaginable?
